What should I prepare for the driver’s medical examination?
- If you are under care of specialist clinics, bring certificates from those specialists as required by the Driving Vehicles Act.
- ID card.
- Be fasting for 3 hours before the exam.
- Glasses, hearing aid (if used)
- Disability certificate (if you have one)
- If you need to renew your license, bring your current driving license.
- You can fill out the declaration before the exam or do it at our clinic.
What does the examination involve?
First, the doctor will take a medical history to check for chronic illnesses, medications, etc. Then they will examine your hearing, vision, balance, respiratory system, and heart function.
Blood sugar levels will also be checked.
Can the doctor refuse to issue a certificate?
The doctor may determine contraindications for obtaining a driving license. This occurs when someone has medical restrictions for driving.
Additional specialist consultations may also be needed in some cases. For example:
- Serious vision problems – ophthalmology consultation
- Hearing issues – ENT consultation
- Kidney disorders – urology or nephrology consultation
- Epilepsy – neurology consultation and six-month seizure-free period
- Cardiovascular diseases – cardiology consultation
- Personality or behavioral disorders, intellectual disability – psychological consultation
What about professional driving license categories?
For categories C, D, E (in addition to the above), psychological tests including psychometric evaluations are required. At Villa Med, this exam cannot be performed, so it must be done at another facility.
Individuals starting a professional driving course also need certificates from other specialists for the driver’s medical examination.
