The Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program (CHUK) is aimed at individuals aged 35 to 65 who have not previously been diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases and who have not participated in this program’s screenings in the past five years. We carry out the program at Villa Med clinic in Białystok.
Why participate in the CHUK program?
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in Poland and worldwide. In Poland, mortality due to these diseases is among the highest in Europe. Early detection of risk factors allows for appropriate prevention and treatment, which can save health and lives.
Risk factors for cardiovascular diseases
- High blood pressure
- Elevated blood cholesterol levels
- Smoking
- Low physical activity
- Overweight and obesity
- Excessive stress
- Poor diet
- Age
- Male gender
- Genetic predisposition
What does the examination include?
During the visit, the primary care physician will perform:
- Blood biochemical tests: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, glucose
- Blood pressure measurement
- Body mass index (BMI) calculation
Next steps
If a cardiovascular disease is diagnosed, the patient will be referred, depending on medical indications, for further diagnostics or treatment at facilities contracted with the National Health Fund (NFZ).
